Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

1. Acceptance

By using WattGap, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms apply to all users, including homeowners using the rebate calculator and contractors using the contractor dashboard.

2. What WattGap provides

WattGap provides a rebate eligibility calculator and contractor connection service. Our estimates are based on publicly available program data from sources including Rewiring America. Actual rebate amounts depend on your utility provider, income verification, project scope, and program availability at the time of installation. We do not guarantee any specific rebate amount.

3. Accuracy of information

Energy rebate programs change frequently. We update our data regularly but cannot guarantee that all program information is current at the moment you use the calculator. Always verify eligibility directly with your utility provider or the program administrator before making purchasing decisions.

4. Contractor connections

WattGap connects homeowners with independent licensed contractors. We do not employ contractors and are not responsible for their work, pricing, or licensing status. Always verify a contractor's license with your state licensing board before hiring. Contracts are between you and the contractor directly.

5. Contractor accounts

Contractors who subscribe to WattGap's lead service agree to respond to leads promptly, maintain valid state licenses, and represent their services accurately. WattGap may suspend accounts that generate complaints or violate these standards. Subscription fees are non-refundable after the 30-day trial period.

6. Embeddable widget

Contractors and partners who embed the WattGap widget on their websites may not modify the widget code, remove WattGap branding, or use it in ways that mislead homeowners. The widget license is included in contractor subscription plans.

7. Prohibited use

You may not use WattGap to scrape program data, simulate leads, spam contractors, or resell our data without a written API agreement. Automated access to the calculator without a license agreement is prohibited.

8. Household application service

WattGap's paid household application service is currently unavailable and is not currently offered. WattGap does not guarantee rebate eligibility, approval, payment, timing, or program availability. You remain the applicant and are responsible for reviewing, signing, and submitting any materials. WattGap does not hold rebate funds in escrow, handle rebate proceeds, impersonate you or a government agency, provide tax, legal, financial, or contractor advice, or automatically submit third-party applications. If you believe you completed a prior checkout, email [email protected] for support. Do not send sensitive documents by email.

9. Limitation of liability

WattGap is provided "as is." We are not liable for decisions you make based on rebate estimates, contractor performance, or program changes. Our total liability for any claim is limited to fees you paid to WattGap in the prior 12 months.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. We will notify active contractor accounts by email. Continued use of WattGap after changes constitutes acceptance.
