What programs are behind the numbers?
Federal funding, administered by your state energy office. The $8,000 maximum is for households at or below 80% of area median income; households at 80-150% AMI receive up to 50% of project costs (smaller amounts are more typical). Funds are limited per state and may be exhausted mid-year.
Heat pump rebates from your electric utility. Amount varies by provider, system size, and eligibility; $6,750 is the top of the range seen in large investor-owned utility programs, with most programs offering less. No income requirement for most utility programs. Verify current amount with your utility before purchasing.
State tax credits or rebates for qualifying heat pump installations. Availability and amount vary by state; some states offer no heat-pump-specific incentive. Tax credits require sufficient federal or state tax liability to claim.
